ABOUT BORÉAL
Who we are?
We are a family-owned
company of Canadian pet food makers that obsess over everything that goes into
our food.
Our humble and driven
team are passionate about ingredients coming primarily from our own backyard,
and that each one we use should help make our pets healthier and happier.
Through the variety of
products that we make we strive to let every pet parent feel confident and
happy in their pet’s nutrition.
At Boréal, we believe in feeding pets the way nature intended—low-carb, high-meat diets that support health and vitality. Our foods are crafted with primarily Canadian ingredients, focusing on single-source proteins and low-glycemic starches like peas and beans to help maintain steady energy levels and healthy weight.
Every recipe includes our advanced minerals for better absorption of zinc, iron, copper, and manganese—essential for skin, coat, and overall well-being. Our grain-free wet foods, made mostly in Canada, offer simple, nutrient-dense meals free from gums and fillers.
Too many pets today struggle with excess weight, leading to serious health issues. We’re here to change that with smarter nutrition that puts your pet’s health first.
FEED YOUR PETS THE WAY THEIR ANCESTORS ATE
After spending our lifetimes working with animals we knew we could do better. The result is our Boréal line of pet food formulated to provide a balanced and healthy diet similar to what dog and cat ancestors ate.
Serving your pet with food that contains only low glycemic ingredients like meat, peas, beans, and good grains that take your dog or cat longer to digest and do not spike blood sugars, will go a long way to helping your them live a healthy life and avoid obesity.
Boréal pet foods are similar to the diets of your pet ancestors that occupied the Boréal forest regions of North America.

HEALTHY NUTRITION FROM HEALTHY INGREDIENTS FOR HEALTHY PETS
Boréal sources local Canadian ingredients, grown and raised under world-class conventional agriculture quality standards, whenever possible.
Our dry foods are made in Ontario using Green Whole Peas and Northern White Beans grown in the prairie-provinces and Southern Ontario. The meats used in our dry foods are from Canadian raised chicken, turkey, duck and sustainable salmon farms. Lamb is imported from Australia.
Boréal wet foods are from sustainable sea products raised British Columbia and Thailand.
Our focus is on producing affordable, sustainable, healthy low glycemic index foods.

BOREAL NEIGHBOURHOOD RETAILERS
We only sell Boréal in neighbourhood pet product stores. We made this business decision because we believe your neighbourhood store is the best place for pet parents to get good advice about feeding their dogs and cats. Local pet stores can really get to know their customers and their pets.
Boréal does not sell directly to Amazon or Chewy.
Some pet stores do sell on-line and list Boréal products.
Use our store locator and find neighbourhood pet stores that sell Boreal Dog Food and Supplements in your area! We have retailers in across Canada, America, Mexico and Asia, – with more locations signing up daily!
To use the store locator – just type in the address or zip/postal code – then using drop down menu set how far away you are looking for a store and click the find location button. We are adding stores frequently to the store locator database. If you are a pet food store and do not see your store – please contact us – click here.
PACKAGING
Some questions on our packaging and bags.
Where is your best before date and lot code?
We get the question about where is the lot code and best before dates printed on our packaging. Each run of food is separated into a ‘lot’ so that we may trace the food through the supply channel. Each lot is tested for quality and safety.
Bags – generally it is on top in upper right – or on the back of bag toward the bottom
Cans – Usually on the bottom lid of can

We get questions on if our bags can be recycled - and if not when might that happen. We use today a lined bag designed to keep the pet food fresh and safe. Due to the lining the current bag cannot be recycled. We are evaluating a number of new bag options that would reduce waste. More to follow.
